Applications open for 2018 Asthma Day Camp

The 2018 Augusta Area Asthma Day Camp is now accepting applications. Interested parents or guardians should contact Kitty Hernlen, associate professor and director of the Health Services Program, no later than June 1, 2018.

In 2015, Augusta was ranked the sixth worst city in America for asthma sufferers.

Started in 2012, the free weeklong Asthma Day Camp provides a safe, educational space for local children suffering from asthma to learn more about treating and, more importantly, managing their disease.

For many of the children, camp is the first time their parents allow them to participate in sports activities such as swimming or hiking. This year, the camp is expected to attract dozens of local children with asthma.

To learn more about enrolling your child in camp, contact Kitty Hernlen.
