Juried student art exhibition kicks off with reception Feb. 16

The Mary S. Byrd Gallery of Art will be hosting the 2017 Juried Student Art Exhibition from Feb. 16—March 10.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 5:30—7 p.m.

The exhibition, juried by Birmingham-based contemporary artist Amy Pleasant, features 31 artworks varying in medium from ceramics to digital art, printmaking and sculpture.

The exhibition showcases the works of twenty-four different student artists including Sarah Adams, Jamie Boquist, Quintavious Brown, Baillie Conway, Emma Ford, Lani Frost, Kenya Gibbons, Dezzirae Goodrum, Macy Goodwin, Kelsey Hornback, Elizabeth Kenyon, Brenna Laird, Chaundria Lynn, Edgar Miles, Carey Mogianesi, Gerry O’Meara, Megan Pitt, Olivia Robinson, Kiersten Rockwell, Jonkota Samuels, Leah Schaffer, KeJuan Tanksley, Matthew Tedesco, and Stephanie Willingham

This annual exhibition gives emerging student artists a chance to experience the jurying process firsthand and gain a greater knowledge of gallery operations. Each January, students are invited to submit up to five works of art in any medium to be reviewed by a well-respected contemporary artist.
