Smith named assistant vice president of Health System Strategic Planning and Business Development

Jennifer Smith

Jennifer Smith, assistant vice president of Planning, Design and Construction, has been named assistant vice president of Health System Strategic Planning and Business Development. The transition will go into effect on Dec. 19.

In her new role, Smith will lead the newly created Health System Strategic Planning and Business Development department, which is housed within the Augusta University Medical Center’s finance division.

Smith  joined Augusta University Health in 2009 as director of Planning Design and Construction and was promoted to assistant vice president in January of 2014. Since 2009, Smith and her team have successfully managed over $425M in capital projects across the enterprise, including the J. Harold Harrison Educations Commons Building, the Augusta University Campus Master Plan, the Augusta University Cyber Institute and the Cancer Research Building expansion, to name a few.

A national search is underway to refill Smith’s original position. Until the position is permanently filled, Brad Higdon with BDR will oversee the daily operations of the Planning, Design and Construction department in an interim capacity.
