Today: Caughman to host Fall Kickoff

The new academic year is upon us, and while some of us are new to Augusta University, some of us are returning for another year and some of us never actually left, it’s important to start the year off together.

The annual Fall Kickoff, which begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Maxwell Theatre, offers faculty and interested staff the opportunity to join together for a look at the exciting year ahead.

As Dr. Gretchen Caughman said last week in her letter to faculty, it’s important to “reflect on what a privilege it is to do what we do – to create knowledge through research and scholarship, to impart knowledge through educating, molding and motivating our students, and to utilize knowledge to provide the best possible care and service to others.”

President Brooks Keel is scheduled to deliver remarks highlighting some of the University’s major milestones, and Caughman will recap last year’s successes while also providing updates on some of this year’s ambitious new projects.

In addition, promotional tables in the lobby will help attendees find ways to become more involved during the coming school year.

A signup table for the Randomized Coffee Trials will help enable cross-campus and cross-disciplinary connections; a Jagwire promotional table will help reinforce the use of Augusta University’s news and information website; an employee giving table will provide an easy avenue for giving back; and a refreshment table will give everybody the opportunity to do what comes naturally – mingle with colleagues who want to share their desire to impact lives and make August University everything it can be.

And thanks to live streaming, even our remote campuses will be able to participate.

What: 2nd Annual Fall Kickoff.
Date: Tuesday, Aug. 9
Time: 9–10:30 a.m.
Where: Maxwell Theatre, Summerville Campus
