Augusta wins third National Collegiate Disc Golf Championship title

It’s safe to say: Augusta is now the golf — and disc golf — capitol of America.

So say the Jaguars, at least.

Clinching an unprecedented third win at the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championship, Augusta University’s disc golf club now claims more national championship disc golf titles than any other U.S. team.

This year, the Jags squared off against the Indian Hills Community College Falcons of Ottumwa, Iowa, in what turned out to be an exciting, if one-sided, match. Led by John Baker, student president of the university’s disc golf club, the Jags shot 10-under-par to win by eight shots.

Dustin Perry, an Augusta student preparing to enroll in the university’s clinical nurse leader program, was also named the championship’s individual men’s winner.

As of April 18, the Jags are ranked third in the nation according to Innova Collegiate Team Rankings, placing above teams from Clemson, Purdue and Texas A&M.

The Jags won their first national title in 2010 and another in 2014.
