Heroes in Health Care: Jan. 4-8

Happy New Year, Heroes!

Every week, Jagwire highlights the exceptional care shown by our GRHealth medical professionals in a segment we like to call “Heroes in Health Care.”

This week’s installment begins with a Heroes in Health Care veteran, Dr. Suzanne Smith. Smith, an associate professor in the Department of Neurology and director of the Memory Disorders Clinic, has received several “thank-yous” and well wishes from her patients in the past. Here are just a few more:

“Dr. Smith called me, at home, after office hours, to discuss my problem,” one patient said. “She also advised me about our family’s insurance. Our new company did not include her; she corrected that. Dr. Smith is an amazing physician.”

Another patient said, “I cannot imagine—nor have I experienced—a more perfect doctor-patient relationship. You are most fortunate to have Dr. Smith on your staff.”

Next we move to the Department of Neurosurgery, where Dr. Cargill Alleyne and his staff have earned a very thoughtful thank you.

“My experience with Dr. Alleyne, his staff and all of GRHealth was great,” one patient said. “Everyone treated me with so much respect. Thank you so much.”

The Department of General Pediatric and Thoracic Surgery received some well-deserved praise from a couple who were thrilled with their son’s care.

“We appreciated the follow-up call to check on our son after his clinic visit and surgery,” they said. “We love the pediatric surgery and clinic team. You guys rock!”

And finally, to round us out this week, we’d like to give a special thank you to Milford B Hatcher Professor of Surgery Dr. Jack Yu for making a little girl’s day.

“I was extremely impressed with Dr. Yu,” one patient’s parent said. “It was a visit for my daughter and he explained things to her until she was comfortable. Such a great office and what a wonderful provider! Thank you, Dr. Yu, for making my little girl smile.”

Please join us in congratulating our colleagues for their outstanding service and dedication to providing our patients with positive care outcomes.

Be sure to check Jagwire daily for the latest news and information from Augusta University and GRHealth, and be on the look out for the next installment of Heroes in Health Care next Monday.

Until then, keep up the good work, Heroes!
