Spotlight on the Confucius Institute

In March of 2014, Georgia Regents University made history by becoming the first comprehensive academic health center to be affiliated with a Confucius Institute.

A nonprofit, public institute for the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese language and culture, the Confucius Institute at GRU was created in partnership with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, one of the oldest and most notable universities in China.

One of 400 such institutions across the globe, the Confucius Institute at GRU was the first in the Western Hemisphere to focus on teaching Traditional Chinese Medicine. And with popular events like the Moon Festival and the upcoming “Silk Words” dance performance, the institute’s outreach is growing in stature across campus and throughout the community.

The Confucius Institute is now under the direction of Dr. Cindi Chance.
