Kroger fundraiser benefits NICU

Area Kroger stores raise money for Children’s Hospital of Georgia
Campaign will provide funds for NICU expansion

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Today through June 9, local Kroger stores will be asking customers to Put Their Money Where The Miracles Are and purchase $1 Miracle Balloons to raise funds for Children’s Hospital of Georgia, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

This year’s local donations will help save the lives of the hospital’s tiniest patients by helping fund an expansion of CHOG’s Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the highest level of newborn critical care.

The renovation plan includes adding four more beds to the 41-bed unit to help accommodate families like the McGahees of Athens. Their triplet girls, born more than two months early last summer, were cared for in the NICU until they were healthy enough to go home.

The 154-bed not-for-profit Children’s Hospital of Georgia is the second largest children’s hospital in the state, providing the highest level of pediatric critical care and neonatal intensive care, as well as a wide range of general and complex health care for children. All the funds raised through this campaign will go to local CMN Hospitals in the Kroger service area to improve the lives of more than 10 million children. Headquartered in Cincinnati, the supermarket retailer is dedicated to making a difference in the communities it serves by supporting hunger relief, education, health and wellness, and diversity programs.

Kroger has partnered with CMN Hospitals since 1996, raising more than $10 million for sick and injured kids. Last year, 211 Kroger stores across the South raised more than $412,000 with the CMN campaign.

The Kroger Southwest Division operates 217 stores, 211 pharmacies, and 130 fuel centers and is part of one of the nation’s largest retail grocery chains serving customers in 34 states and the District of Columbia. For more information about Kroger, visit kroger.com.
