Next week at Augusta University, the institution’s medical center celebrates being recognized as a top performer in health care equality and local men and women will be shaving their hair for pediatric cancer awareness. Augusta University Health System named leader in health care equality

Augusta University Health has been named a top performer in health care equality by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the nation’s largest advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights. Augusta University Medical Center ranked second in Georgia and Julie Moretz, chief experience officer and associate vice president of Patient and Family-Centered Care for Augusta University Health, is available for interviews.

Digital storytelling workshop for teachers

 Local teachers will learn how to use technology to enhance student creativity during the College of Education’s Digital Storytelling for Teachers workshop. The event is from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, and Dr. Ashley Gess, assistant professor in the College of Education and workshop coordinator, is available for interviews.

Brave the Shave for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month

For the second year in a row, the Children’s Hospital of Georgia will be hosting the Brave the Shave event on Aug. 29. This annual event is designed to raise money to support Children’s Hospital of Georgia and bring awareness to pediatric cancers. Media are invited to attend the event at 2 p.m. in the Children’s lobby.
