Volunteer Week gave Augusta University the chance to single out the great work being done by the committed volunteers who give their time and talents to us, but now it’s time to turn our attention to the other side of the volunteerism coin: Day of Service, which is scheduled for Nov. 4.
Day of Service is our chance to give back. Now thoroughly ingrained in our tradition, it’s the time when Augusta University comes together to positively impact the community through volunteer service. This year’s opportunities include everything from doing yard work and painting to interacting with veterans and walking pets.
“Augusta University is a huge part of Augusta and the surrounding communities; this is our home, and we must take pride in it by caring for our city and for each other,” said Dr. Brooks Keel, president of Augusta University. “Day of Service shines light on one of our most important institutional values – compassion. We encourage our faculty, staff and students to be socially responsible by reaching out and lending a helping hand through various community service projects.”
Continue to visit the Day of Service webpage in the coming weeks for more information as it becomes available, but mark your calendars now for Saturday, Nov. 4, so you’ll be free to lend your helping hand to this great event. Just go to the the Day of Service post on the events calendar, click Share It and then choose your preferred way of reminding yourself.
