This Saturday: Join us for the Berry Fleming Book Festival

The Berry Fleming Book Festival will take place on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Jaguar Student Activities Center. Named for acclaimed Augustan writer Berry Fleming (Colonel Effingham’s Raid), the non-profit festival has a simple aim: to establish Augusta as a literary hub.

New York Times Best-selling author Diane Chamberlain (Necessary Lies, The Silent Sister) will deliver this year’s keynote. To date, Chamberlain, a former social worker and psychotherapist, has written 24 novels and has been published in more than 20 languages.

The festival will also feature a number of panels and presentations by up-and-coming and established writers alike. Panelists and presenters include Marcus Amaker, Charleston, South Carolina’s first Poet Laureate, Jack Barsky, a former KGB-agent-turned-writer, and several current and former Augusta University professors. A full schedule of panels and presentations can be found here.

In addition to hosting a stage for emerging writers, the festival will also offer three free writing workshops, a Vendor Village for gifts and books, and booths and food trucks from six local food vendors.

This event is free and open to the public.
