Patrick Reed grabs fifth win on PGA Tour

Augusta Jaguar All-American Patrick Reed won the fifth PGA Tour event of his professional career on Sunday afternoon with a victory in The Barclays at Bethpage State Park on Sunday. Reed held off the rest of the field on the Black Course in the final round and ended the 72-hole event with a 275 (-9).

Fresh off a trip to the Rio Summer Olympics where they represented the U.S. Team, Patrick Reed and Rickie Fowler found themselves in the spotlight on Sunday at The Barclays, but Reed prevailed on the back nine. Fowler ended tied for seventh while Sean O’Hair and Emiliano Grillo shared second.

Reed, sitting seventh in FedExCup rankings and No. 14 on the World Golf Ranks, opened the event with a five-under 66 in round one and followed it up with a 68 (-3), 71 (E), and 70 (-1) in round four. Reed began the final day in second place one stroke behind Fowler.

It was Reed’s 10th top-10 finish in his last 25 events. In that stretch, Reed finished second in three tournaments.

The back-to-back Jaguar All-American turned pro in 2011 after helping the Jags bring back-to-back National Championships to Augusta in 2010 and 2011. In his professional career, Reed has 23 top-10 finishes and 51 top-25 finishes.
