Thanks to a local grassroots movement, the Augusta community has a new way to help in the fight against cancer, and the time to volunteer is now.
Paceline, a year-round fundraising initiative that raises money to support cancer research and patients at the Georgia Cancer Center, is hosting its inaugural bike ride, which is scheduled for May 10-11.
The ride will begin at 7 a.m. on the Summerville Campus of Augusta University, with 20, 45 and 100-mile routes taking riders through some of the most beautiful parts of Augusta, Grovetown and Thomson.
With a wide range of volunteer options including bike management, food and beverage tent operations, photography, rider check-in and more, those interested in volunteering can help ensure the success of the event.
Volunteer shifts range from three hours to eight hours, but the longer shifts can be divided amongst volunteers. In exchange for their time, volunteers will also receive swag from the event.
Those interested in helping can register to volunteer for the Paceline bike ride online.
