Latest update regarding password change

The following communication regarding the cyber-attack was issued at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 12.

Dear Colleagues,

Augusta University has been targeted in a cyber-attack. The attacker used phishing as a means of convincing members of our faculty and staff to divulge their user names and passwords. The compromised passwords were subsequently used to access our employee self-service portal with the intent to redirect paychecks to the attacker’s bank account.

The University’s security safeguards helped to quickly detect and contain the incident.  We are continuing to take steps to monitor and control the situation. We are also actively working with federal and state law enforcement officials. All systems are fully operational and we have no indication that any patient information has been compromised.
