Get ready for summer fun and bring your “A Game” to Augusta University’s day camp, Kids University. Newly redesigned with an interactive STEAM education focus and themed weeks, the annual immersive educational experience for rising first through rising eighth graders will run June 3-28 on the Summerville Campus.
“We’ve fine-tuned the camps for a student-centered focus with an original curriculum designed by certified teachers and Augusta University faculty that capitalizes on topics about which instructors are passionate,” said Dr. Jack Eisenman, professor of education in AU’s College of Education and director of the summer programs.
The weeks explore A-themed topics, starting with animals, then aviation, then architecture and engineering, and finally acting and artistry. Each camp features interactive and creative sessions that engage students with hands-on activities lead by experienced instructors.
“One of the advantages of this camp is that it utilizes the AU campus. Science and art supplies and resources are just yards away; and this opens the door for countless opportunities and provides a new avenues for student learning,” Eisenman said.
Registration for Kids University is now open. Students can be registered for all four weeks or for specific weeks that cater to their interests. The deadline to register for the first week is May 29. Visit go.augusta.edu/kidsu, and send additional questions to kidsu@augusta.edu.
