Important: All calls about safety and security concerns are now made to one number

The following message was sent Sept. 25 on behalf of AUPD Chief Lyon and AU Health Interim Director of Safety and Security Josh Cunningham:

Augusta University is consolidating calls to dispatch from two numbers to one beginning Oct. 1.

Currently there are two different phone numbers people are told to call for safety and security concerns: a campus one that reaches AU Police Department dispatch (706-721-2911) and a medical center one that reaches AU Health Security (706-721-4787).

Beginning Oct. 1, the phone number to call for safety and security issues no matter where you are on campus will be 706-721-2911 (x1-2911) — one number for the university and health system on the Summerville, Health Sciences, Medical, Nathan Deal and Forest Hills Campuses.

It is important to communicate this change to all health system employees, as the number they are used to calling is changing.

The safety of employees, patients and students, as well as the safety of institutional property, are top priorities at Augusta University. Please ensure all faculty, staff and students are aware of the number change by placing this flyer in a very visible location.

Please note that the number to call for reporting facilities issues will also change: 706-721-9230.

Thank you for helping to keep our university and health system a safe place to work, study and heal.

James C. Lyon Jr.
Chief, Augusta University Police Department

Josh Cunningham
Interim Director of Safety and Security, AU Health
