Great Colleges to Work For survey distributed to faculty & staff Oct. 8

During two weeks in October, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to complete the Great Colleges to Work For survey, sponsored by the Chronicle of Higher Education in partnership with ModernThink, a leading organizational development and management consulting firm.

Invitations to participate in the 2018 survey will be sent via email Oct. 8. (NOTE: It will come from a non-AU email address: surveys@modernthink.net.) The survey will be open through Oct. 22.

Spring 2017 was the first opportunity to complete the survey, and results were shared in the fall. The results were used by colleges and units to identify actions they could implement to respond to employee concerns and suggestions, which they have been working on since January.

We received a positive response when we assessed employee interest in continuing to participate in the survey, so we are administering it again. The survey is built around thematic areas like pride, compensation and teaching environment, and we have added questions specific to areas employees told us they wanted to hear more about.

“We appreciate our faculty and staff taking the time to provide feedback through this survey,” said Dr. Gretchen Caughman, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost. “By participating over time, we can not only benchmark our progress against our peer institutions, but we can measure our own progress in making improvements based on the results.”

For a comprehensive look at the 2017 survey and its results, visit the Great Colleges to Work For survey section of the provost’s webpage.
