Flu restrictions on hospital visitation have been lifted

AU Health officials have lifted the Modified Family Presence mandate put in place several months ago to limit visitation of children and anyone with influenza-like symptoms during flu season.

The decision to discontinue Modified Family Presence is based on the decrease in intensity level and geographical spread of influenza to near baseline rates for both Georgia and South Carolina, as well as a large reduction in flu cases at AU Health.

It is still possible for us to receive influenza patients. For this reason, other infection control measures such as standard precautions, transmission-based precautions, respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene must still be followed.

If you have any questions about precautions or visitation recommendations, please contact Hospital Epidemiology at 721-2224.
