College of Nursing Hosts Senior Wellness Day

This year’s annual Senior Wellness Day provided 98 senior citizens with healthy activities and health checks on Nov. 28. The BSN Class of 2018 was responsible for planning and working the event, with 102 students volunteering. The wellness event was sponsored by the College of Nursing at Augusta University, the Richmond County Parks and Recreation Department, the CSRA Area Agency on Aging and AARP.

Seniors received blood pressure and blood sugar checks, healthy nutrition information, height and weight assessments, and vision screenings. Additionally, seniors participated in activities including line dancing, arts and crafts, board games, and a healthy food walk (with healthy food prizes in lieu of cake). Lunch was also provided.

This year the College of Nursing is celebrating 75 years of service to its students and the community.
