Today: Augusta University to host emergency exercise

Hospitals throughout the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) will join Augusta University’s medical center in an emergency response exercise on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The scenario will involve a large storm system that produces hail, tornadoes and flooding across the CSRA.

Augusta University officials will use this exercise to evaluate the medical center’s ability to support patients during a natural disaster and enhance emergency response and cooperation among area hospitals.

The training will take place on Augusta University’s Health Sciences campus, affecting Harper Street, the medical center and Children’s Hospital of Georgia Emergency Departments and the Medical Office Building.

For more information about this exercise, contact Augusta University’s Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response at 706-721-4551.
