“I asked a couple of the lawmakers why they chose state politics over federal politics, and they all said because they felt they could have a bigger impact on our citizens at the state level," said Lee Saffold, a fourth-year political science major.
The 2023 Georgia legislative session wrapped up earlier this month, beginning a 40-day period known as bill review, where Gov. Brian Kemp and his staff review the passed legislation and then sign it into law.
