AU Health’s Sara Walden receives ASHA certification

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) recently awarded Augusta University Health’s Speech Therapist Sara Walden the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (SLP). The certificate represents her commitment to the profession of Speech Therapy, to ongoing professional development and ASHA’s code of ethics.

The award is a nationally recognized certification that serves as a mark of excellence in the SLP profession and is considered the gold-standard credential for speech-language pathologists in all practice settings.

“This is my dream job,” said Walden. “I love acute care. I learn something new every day.”

Walden has specialized in diagnosing and treating patients with swallowing and communication deficits. She has worked with critically ill patients following stroke, head injury, dementia and other impairing illnesses.

This certification signifies her advanced level of knowledge, skills and expertise.
