Drs. Ginn and Hunter explore terrorism’s effect on elections across nations

Augusta University’s Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is excited to celebrate the recent publication of research conducted by two faculty members and a master’s student.

The Department of Social Sciences’ Dr. Lance Hunter, Dr. Martha Ginn and Aaron Hutton collaborated with Valdosta State University’s Dr. Joseph Robbins on a study that was recently published by Wiley Online Library.

Titled “Meet in the Middle: Terrorism and Centrist Party Vote Shares in Legislative Elections,” the research article studies what effect the number and severity of terrorist attacks had on voter choice in legislative elections in 56 democracies from multiple regions and levels of development from 1975 to 2014. Prior available research typically explored effects in a single nation.

Dr. Hunter, an associate professor of Political Science who studies the connection between terrorism and political stability in democracies; Dr. Ginn, an associate dean and professor of Political Science and political expert on the judicial process, constitutional law and the U.S. Supreme Court; and Master of Public Administration student Aaron Hutton collaborated to complete this study.

The Wiley Online Library hosts one of the most extensive multidisciplinary collections of online resources with over 4 million articles from 1,500 journals, 9,000 books and hundreds of multivolume reference works, laboratory protocols and databases.
