Radiology resident Dr. Locklin works to save others, on or off the clock

On the evening of Monday, July 16, a 3rd year radiology resident at Augusta University Medical Center went above and beyond the call of duty.

After leaving work, Dr. Jasmine Locklin rushed to assist passengers who had been in a severe car accident on Walton Way. Two vehicles were involved in the accident with three critical patients between the two vehicles.

Locklin assessed each of the passengers, going between the two vehicles and recruiting nearby spectators to keep her informed of changes. Emergency personnel finally arrived and evacuated two of the passengers from one vehicle to AUMC.

Locklin remained with the passenger in the second vehicle in the rain, calming him while waiting for what ended up being a prolonged extrication. She reassured him and stayed with him until he was finally taken to AUMC by EMS.
