Super Bowl champ to visit Augusta University

WHAT:  Augusta native and 2013 Super Bowl champ Deon Grant will team up with The Dental College of Georgia and College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University to encourage kids to tackle tarter with good oral hygiene during Give Kids a Smile.

ABOUT: The annual event is part of a national initiative to offer free oral health screenings and treatments to underserved children. The Give Kids a Smile program, launched nationally by the American Dental Association in 2003, has provided more than 5 million children with free oral health care. In Augusta, a dozen faculty members and residents from Augusta University will volunteer to provide cleanings, sealants, and restorative dental treatment to children screened from local schools.

WHEN: 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 2, J. Harold Harrison, MD Education Commons room 1120, 1301 R.A. Dent Blvd.

OPPORTUNITIES: Interviews, photos and video opportunities will be available. Immediately following Grant’s presentation, media will be escorted to The Dental College of Georgia to capture footage of children undergoing dental care.
