AU Medical Center delivers first Augusta baby of 2018

After 21 hours of labor, Shenitria Kitchens and boyfriend Tyree Ingram welcomed their son Messiah Kitchens into the world at 12:40 a.m. Jan. 1. Messiah was delivered at Augusta University Medical Center and was the first baby born in Augusta in 2018 by just 10 minutes.

Kitchens didn’t think she was going to make it until the New Year because of her contractions, but her boyfriend, Ingram, joked that Messiah was “going to come when he wants to.”
