Augusta University Medical Center has ranked as a top teaching hospital

Georgia Trend has released its 2017 list of hospital rankings, and Augusta University Medical Center placed on the list as a top teaching hospitals. It is the sixth consecutive year the medical center has made the list.

Including hospitals that participate in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Value Based Purchasing Program, rankings are determined by a Total Performance Score based on information on clinical process, patient experience, outcome and efficiency. Independent consultants from the James M. Hull College of Business at Augusta University completed the analysis for Georgia Trend.

“The main tenet focuses on creating an environment to improve patient outcomes and lower costs,” Mark A. Thompson, associate dean of the Hull College of Business, said in the article. “As hospitals strive to meet their goals, evaluating and measuring their performance is a difficult task.”
