All are invited to farmers crop-up market

Augusta University is partnering with Augusta Locally Grown to host a Crop-Up Market on Nov. 15 at Terrace Lawn, located between the medical center and Auditoria Center on the Health Sciences Campus, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Crop-Up Market will feature seven area farmers selling organic, locally grown produce, cheese, grains, eggs and nuts. The event will also feature three cooking demonstrations by students from Helm’s College accompanied by an Augusta University Health dietetic intern to explain nutrition and seasonal cooking.

Eat Local CSRA, a meal-planning service utilizing only locally grown food, will offer seasonal gourmet meal prep demonstrations. Ice Box Urban Farm will also offer demonstrations of fermented food with samples and education on gut microbials.

Augusta Locally Grown will have a home-gardening advice tent with a variety of workshops on urban farming:

  • Hour 1: Soil Health
  • Hour 2: Vermiculture
  • Hour 3: Biodiversity
  • Hour 4: Composting

All are welcome to attend this free event.

Augusta Locally Grown is committed to growing healthier, inclusive and vibrant food systems throughout Augusta. Its work includes a commitment to local farmers markets and community education.
