‘Children of Opioids’ segment shows how withdrawal clinic is helping expectant moms

Medical College of Georgia faculty are helping in the fight to end the opioid epidemic. Dr. Paul Browne, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist, talks with WRDW-TV (CBS) about efforts underway at AU Medical Center to help pregnant mothers addicted to opioids. Browne supervises the state’s only voluntary withdrawal clinic for expectant moms trying to get clean in order to deliver healthy babies. One of his patients opens up about her battle with painkillers that led to a heroine addiction. Also in the special report, Dr. Jatinder Bhatia, chief of neonatology at Children’s Hospital of Georgia, explains the dangers that addiction poses to newborns.
