Grammy award-winning chorus to perform Sept. 30 at Augusta University

Chanticleer, the Grammy award-winning male ensemble, is coming to Augusta University Sept. 30 as part of the university’s annual Lyceum Series.

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre and their performance, entitled “Heart of a Soldier,” will pay tribute to those serving in the armed forces. General admission is $18 and free for students with a valid JagCard. Click here for more ticket options.

Known around the world as “an orchestra of voices,” Chanticleer gives nearly 100 concerts a year, and their repertoire spans various music genres, including Gregorian chants, Renaissance polyphony, jazz, spirituals and world music.

The New Yorker named the group “the world’s reigning male chorus,” and Billboard magazine listed them among their top 10 best-selling classical artists. The chorus was also inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame and has received Grammy awards for Classical Best Small Ensemble and Best Classical Contemporary Composition.

Other Augusta University Lyceum Series events include an acrobatic performance by the Cirque Mechanics on Nov. 20 and the Aquila Theatre’s presentation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet on Feb. 17. For additional information, call 706-667-4100.
