Dr. Mark Allen Poisel, vice president for enrollment and student affairs, has accepted the position of vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Poisel joined Augusta University in 2013 as vice president for student affairs and, in 2014, was named vice president of enrollment and student affairs following the consolidation of the two divisions.
Under his leadership, the university opened two new student resident halls and a renovated student center with a full-service, cafeteria-style dining hall. In addition, the university witnessed an increase in new student enrollment, improved efficiency in student financial aid operations, the recreation of student life and engagement, and the expansion of student counseling and psychological services and housing and residence life.
“We are grateful to Dr. Poisel for his leadership and service, and wish him much success in his new role,” said Gretchen B. Caughman, executive vice president of academic affairs and provost.
Dr. Scott Wallace, dean of student life, has agreed to serve as interim vice president until a permanent replacement is identified through a national search. Wallace came to the university in 2014 after serving as assistant dean of students at the University of Mississippi.
“This position is of critical importance to our academic mission, and we appreciate everyone’s continued support during this time of transition,” Caughman said.
Poisel will depart for Arkansas in mid-July.
