New CHOG hospitality cart puts joy on wheels

The family and friends of sick children will soon have a new ally at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia.

Jim Mumford, CHOG administrator, and Sean Frantom, director of Development at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta, unveiled a new “Happy Wheels” hospitality cart on Monday during a short ceremony in the CHOG Lobby.

The cart, which will be operated by volunteers, will be stocked with toys, snacks and adult coloring books, among other items. Volunteers will visit door-to-door throughout all five stories of CHOG every Monday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

“We designed this to support families who have children healing in the hospital,” Frantom said. “It will also provide the simple reminder that RMHC supports them during their most challenging time.”

Mumford said the Happy Wheels cart, which stands a full head taller than CHOG mascot Roary, would “go a long way toward helping the hospital with it’s family experience.”
