First bus of newly wrapped fleet unveiled

At 8 a.m. on the morning of Jan. 24, the first of Augusta University’s newly wrapped buses was unveiled in front of Oak Hall on the Health Sciences Campus.

Over the course of the next six weeks, all 10 buses will be wrapped in three different designs.

Rolling billboards for the university, the buses are all equipped with wheelchair lifts and have LED signs that clearly identify the route they’re servicing.

The university’s transportation system was revamped last fall to accommodate the influx of undergraduates living in the new residence hall on the Health Sciences Campus. According to Director of Auxiliary Services Karl Munschy, the system reported 36,000 boardings in October, an increase of 10,000 boardings from the previous high.

“We built it and they came,” he said.

For real-time tracking of the buses, download the SmartTraxx app from any app store.
