The Aiken Standard: Thyroid cancer increasing but often treatable

Dr. David Terris, surgical director of the Augusta University Thyroid and Parathyroid Center, says that thyroid cancer is one of the fast growing cancers in the past decade.

Women are more likely to develop thyroid cancer, and, while any age can be impacted, it is more likely to be seen when a woman is her in 40s to 50s and a man is in his 60s and 70s.

Terris says that surgery is usually the best treatment option for those with thyroid cancer.
