Laney-Walker project update

Despite major hurdles such as unprecedented wet weather conditions in January and February, unanticipated utility line conditions, unforeseen unsuitable subsurface conditions and buried utility lines that had to be moved or relocated, the Laney-Walker project is nearing completion.

Over the next few weeks:

• The final coat of asphalt will be installed,
• Raised crosswalks will be installed,
• Landscaping will be completed, and
• The last few utility poles will be removed.

One more “flipping” of access to Laney-Walker is anticipated during the week of March 28; it will be communicated to you a few days in advance. During that flip, 15th Street access to Laney-Walker will be open while R.A. Dent Boulevard access will be limited, while maintaining access to the Cancer Center and its parking deck.

It is our intention to have the road completed towards the end of April. Thank you for your patience during this very important project.
