14th annual Kelsi Long Memorial Ride to benefit CHOG

Organized in honor of a baby girl who was stillborn at 8 ½ months due to Down syndrome, the 14th annual Kelsi Long Memorial Ride will be held on March 19, 2016.

Michael Maddox, Kelsi’s grandfather and president of the Kelsi Long Memorial Foundation, organized the first memorial ride in 2003. Since then, there have been 12 rides that raised more than $100,000 for children with Down syndrome and other special needs. All funds raised are donated to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia at Augusta University.

Last year, 150 motorcyclists participated, and $6,200 was raised for CHOG.

This year’s ride will travel to Stewart/Gunn Farms in Warrenton, Georgia. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Augusta Harley Davidson, and the ride will leave at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at Stewart/Gunn Farms, and vendors will be available.

David Allen Coe will perform live at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are available for $20 at Augusta Harley Davidson, Farmers State Bank (Thomson, Georgia, branch) and Wheeler True Value in Warrenton. Tickets will also be sold at the gate for $25. Camping is available for $10. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and are also allowed to bring in food and drinks. Concessions will be available.
