GPBAugustaLogo_800x600Karen Brown is from Augusta. She’s enjoyed a lengthy career as a ballerina, dance instructor, and arts advocate.  In this chapter of The Augusta Listening Project, a joint venture between GPB Augusta and The Greater Augusta Arts Council, we’re hearing the stories of people who launched remarkably successful careers in the arts from a foundation that took its shape here in Augusta.   In yesterday’s episode, Karen Brown spoke about Ron Coulton, the father of Augusta Ballet, and how he refused to allow segregationist attitudes to impede her progress. Today, Karen shares the impact of her first visit to New York City, as she continues the conversation with Brenda Durant, Executive Director of The Greater Augusta Arts Council.
