No. 21 Jags Down Belmont Abbey To Record Fifth 9-0 Win Of Season

GRU Augusta moves to 10-3 on the year with non-conference triumph

AUGUSTA, Ga.  – The GRU Augusta men’s tennis team won their fifth shutout victory of the year on Wednesday afternoon with a 9-0 non-conference victory over the visiting Belmont Abbey Crusaders.

The Jaguars reach double-digit wins on the season and are now 01-3 after today. With three regular starters sidelined by minor injuries, the Jags assembled three doubles pairs that had yet to compete with one another this season. The task was not too much, as GRU swept all three doubles matches.

Romain Brunie and Moritz Gehlhaus defeated the Crusaders 8-1 in the number one singles match. Jose Cobo and Caio Camara won in the third doubles slot wth the same score, before Gustav Anderson and Gabriel Santos won 8-2, the closest Belmont Abbey came in doubles competition.

Six-straight singles wins gave the Jags the 9-0 final.

The Jaguars play a Peach Belt Conference match at USC Aiken on Saturday, March 21 at 12:00 p.m. in Aiken, S.C.
